In many cases, when two people become engaged they will invite their friends to an engagement party to formally announce the event and also to celebrate the upcoming change in their lives. Unfortunately, many people show up to these events very ill prepared for the occasion. Often times people let the thought of an engagement gift slip their minds and end up finding it necessary to be unoriginal and looking sheepish in front of their friends. This is an easy situation to remedy, however, with a little preparation.
The first thing to plan for is to be five minutes early to the engagement party. This will reduce the stress of letting people down if you’re late and will also ensure that you’re, at most, a couple of minutes late. After you set your mind to that, the hard part comes.
You will generally have about a week of notice before you are expected to attend a party of this magnitude. For many people, this is short notice and schedules must be changed in order to make the date. However, a week is always ample time to get a gift for your friends. In general, it should embody the change that they are about to undertake together and the transition from their previous life to their next.
This can be a hard task for anyone, especially if they’ve never been in that situation. Thankfully, it can be accomplished quite easily when you set your mind to it. If, for example, they both enjoy staying active and healthy, then a set of matching hiking packs would be a great gift. On the other hand, if they both like to do separate things then finding a bridge between the two in order to buy a gift is necessary.
